FURTHER APPLICATION CONCERNS

Not only is the Polite Open Authoritarian (POA) style universally accepted for ENTRY and optimal for RE-ENTRY, it is also the fall back position for the manager. Whenever there are questions as to the clues during ANALYSIS the manager “plays safe” by remaining in or returning to the ENTRY style. Whenever a clue has been misread and the manager is moving toward a non-congruent style the increasingly heightened mismatch signals are responded to by returning to the initial, ENTRY style.

The ENTRY style of POA is the managerial style used in every mixed group situation such as meetings, committees, and social events. Here is a key  requirement that is often overlooked. A manager, who for personal reasons (own level of existence) finds a certain style more comfortable, may begin to exhibit that style in a mixed situation. Thereby clearly showing the work group there is an “in-group” and “out-group”.

A person at any level of existence above B-O is fully capable of comprehending the management strategy concepts we have presented. The extent to which they believe and accept the underlying values will vary and reflect their functioning level. The example, the Egocentric manager sees this strategy as a good club to use for personal advantage, the Saintly sees order-out-of-chaos - - a structured, patterned, orderly model; the Materialistic sees a useful manipulative tool; the Personalistic sees a means to understand and appreciate the differences between people; and the Cognitive manager sees information to be used as its content and quality warrants. Which ever the case, all understand the concepts presented.

The Cognitive individual will find the management strategy presented naturally comfortable. To this degree the Cognitive should be most capable of implementing the Congruent Management Strategy and, therefore, more successful in serving the organization. However, there is no guarantee that Cognitive people in management are best for every organization. Managers functioning at other levels, in a given situation, may even prove more likely to succeed.
